CD Turntable

This turntable for CDs made me look. A 2023 Red Dot Design winner, Chu Jaehyung's clever take on the vinyl listening experience is playful and well-designed.

From the Red Dot site: "The tone arm automatically calculates the overall running time of the CD and moves slowly, like a turntable, from the outside to the centre of the CD, matching the length of the album. Listeners can change the playback time of the music by directly moving the tone arm. Listeners can also change the tracks on the CD by pressing the “Track Selector” left and right, just like DJs do on a turntable. When a track is changed, the tone arm automatically moves to the new position."

Admittedly, I am a Spotify addict and dearly miss the physicality of holding music. Could we be seeing signs of a compact disc renaissance like we've experienced with vinyl?
