Susan Kare

Ever wonder who gave your computer icons their charm and personality?

Susan Kare is an American artist and graphic designer, who contributed interface elements and typefaces for the first Apple Macintosh personal computer from 1983 to 1986. She is responsible for some of the most iconic computer icons “designed on a minimalist grid of pixels and constructed with mosaic-like precision”.

She’s even responsible for the command button symbol!

Thanks to her, dragging files to the trash feels like a quirky ritual rather than digital drudgery.

Here’s a link to her site where you can purchase limited edition prints.
