Georg Gerster

Attention creatives who are interested in abstraction, pattern, and play on scale. Check out the work of Georg Gerster (1928–2019), a Swiss aerial photographer renowned for his pioneering work capturing stunning aerial images of landscapes, archaeological sites, and cultures worldwide.

This work was done in the 1980s, before drone photography, and oftentimes needed a security detail so he wouldn't be shot down for being mistaken as a spy.

Geometric, nonhierarchical, and with a limited color palette, his work uses fine details over enormous landscapes to form mesmerizing mosaics.
