Alejandro Cartagena

I'm a fan of photographer Alejandro Cartagena, whose "Carpoolers" series offers a profound commentary on suburban expansion and its complexities in Mexico.

Cartagena's images, which document carpooling workers on their way to the suburbs of Monterrey, shed light on the environmental and socio-economic challenges of sprawling suburbs far from urban centers. Without proper public transportation to the job sites, Cartagena documents these workers hitching rides in the back of pickup trucks. His work challenges us to look closely at the human stories behind these commutes and the broader implications for our cities and planet.
